I am touched that you would ask me what to grow because I am so so new at this. But container gardening I have done before. So I suggest herbs. Basil grows like crazy, cilantro, mint, parsley all grow without a lot of fuss. You could also grow lavender and that would be lovely to turn into a yummy smelling potpourri bag or to add to a bath. BTW-I'm digging your blog and your pictures are amazing. I want a lesson when you return.
